Dr K S Radhakrishnan shares his views on the twin verdicts passed by the Constitutional bench headed by Chief Justice Dipak Misra, in an event organised by Chavara Cultural Centre to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on 2 October 2018. He spoke on the outcomes of the two verdicts, passed consecutively on 6 September 2018 on section 377 of the IPC which was termed dehumanising by the court and on 27 September 2018 ruling out section 497 of the IPC that dealt with adultery. These verdicts were pronounced with the view of upholding right to equality and a life of dignity. Dr K S Radhakrishnan spoke on the far-reaching implications of the much-celebrated verdicts and the urgent need to revive Gandhian philosophy lest the country should fall into anarchy.
